  1. Recently I've developed this nasty problem with firefox. Whenever I try to download something it gives me an error - "Please insert a disk into drive M" All I can do is press cancel, nothing else works. This error freezes up the firefox window. It appears about 6-8 times depending, and is very annoying and makes surfing very hard. I want to completely uninstall firefox from my system so I can do a fresh install and fix this. I've uninstalled it in Add/Remove Programs but when I do a new install my skins, bookmarks, and extensions are still installed. What do I have to delete to get rid of all of it?

    Thanks,

    Garibaldi

You need to kill your old profile and create a new one. Try this page for details

  4. Thanks for all the help! I think I solved my problem by changing the default downloads folder - this seems to fix the errors. Unfortunately sometimes firefox eats a lot more resources than it should, is there any way to prevent this?

What version are you using? It is up to version 1.06 now.

I have had no issues with Firefox and I use it exclusively.

Have you tried the firefox support forum at the firefox main site ?

A search of the forum showed it is not an unheard of problem. All suggested solutions are the same. Tools -> Options. Click on the Privacy tab, and Clear the History.

Restart FF and see what happens

I like having the most common entries still in the browser, but then I haven't had this problem . . . .

    G'day
After uninstalling go to start>run and type regedit click on edit and do a search for FF Hit find next and delete. Keep pressing F3 til you get them all.
Back up the regisrty first in case you delete any wrong keys. From file menu, in the registry editor, click on export> all, and save it in a safe place. To restore go to the same process but click on import and retrieve the file from where you saved it.

Garibaldi, you've got 2 options. First, you can delete the profile folder found here:
D:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles This should kill all the previous extension/themes and the like. You can also just start a new profile by adding -p to the firefox shortcut. This will bring up the profile manager so you can start a new profile. This is really your best option IMHO.

There are many ways to measure success. You just have to find your own yardstick.
