  1. Hello guys, I have a question, I have converted couple of mpeg files and burn my first dvd. The problem is when I play this dvd on TV the buttom part is chopping off. There is website logo at the buttom which is not visible on TV. When I play same dvd on PC I am able to view the logo.

Can any one help how I can fix this problem

  2. what is the source footage? What are you using to convert? what are you using to author?
Sounds like aspect ratio is getting a bit messed up somewhere in the process. Most applications will show you what the 'safe zone' is for displaying on a television.

  3. Search on the term "OVERSCAN".

  4. I am using nero vision express to convert avi, mpeg-1 to dvd format (mpeg-2). There is an option for aspect ratio but I left it on automatic. I have other options that I can pick like 4:3, 16:9 I believe. May be nero vision encoded mpeg in 16:9 format and I do not have 16:9 TV. I have analog 4:3 sony TV. Would that causing the problem. What if I pick 4:3? how it will look on digital 16:9 TV. Thanks in advance

  5. I'm not familiar with nero vision express. My guess is you should select 4:3. A 4:3 encoded file on a 16:9 tv just shows black bars on the left and right...unless the person has their tv set to do something else (like zoom in).

  6. Thanks Guys. So I guess there is no way of getting "Bleed Area" to view on TV.

Would aspect ratio when encoding the mpeg-1 file to mepg-2 help??? there is an option for 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio, I originally picked "automatic" when encoded the mpeg-1 files to mepg-2.

May try both 4:3 and 16:9 and see the result. Automatic is not working as it is cutting off the image at the buttom or I would say "Bleed Area"

    Thanks.

  7. Editors, like Premier Pro, allow you to view the 'safe zone' over the footage and then 'scale' down the footage (or scale up)...this would enable you to be sure that your tv will display what you think it will. This of course is just one way of correcting your issue...theirs probably a lot of different (an possibly easier) ways.
