DivX DVD player choice and region-free query

My old DVD player is on its last legs, so I am looking for a new one.

What I am specifically looking for is DivX/XVid support, I am getting tired of having to convert my DivX movies to DVD-compliant files for my old player.

The choices available to me here in South Africa are:

Philips DVP 5100K - approximately US$ 106
Samsung DVD-P450 - approximately US$ 129
Pioneer DV-575 - approximately US$ 182
Sony DVP-NS52 -approximately US$ 137

Would anyone be able to help with a recommendation?

I would also like the dvd player to be region-free and I see the Videohelp Hacks section contains information on how to do this. Most require a PDA with an IR connection. Unfortunately, I do not have a PDA. Will a PC with a Bluetooth connection work? Or would upgrading the firmware using MTZ's "Pioneer575_1250_v7" version make the player region-free?
