When cutting frames with virtual Dub out of an AVI, I don't end up with the editted version after I save to AVI. Meaning I can chop out 20 or so frames, but when saving the AVI and then opening in a media player, the changes are not reflected.

I went back and re-opened the editted file in VDub to find [D] marks at each cut spot. I figure this may stand for "Delete" or "Marked for Deletion"... am I on track?

Also, does this have anything to do with [K] Key frames? Meaning will it only cut at key frames (the AVI was captured with Camtasia)? If it will only cut at Key frames... what other editor/software will allow me to cut anywhere I want. Key frames won't work. I need precise cuts.

    With appreciation, Rob

    Hi 27am_dot_com,

Describe your process - i.e. how you're using VirtualDub, what version, and which settings are selected under the "Video" option in the Mmenu bar?

What type of AVI is it? Use GSpot or AVICodec to find out...

Virtual Dub 1.6.8 and it's copying with Direct Stream. Anything else you need? I'll grab the AVI version right now...

(as per how I'm using it: I'm opening an AVI and then appending another and another etc. Between each video, I need to splice out the initial delay that I had on there or the ending of the previous one. So there's always a 3 second, or so, cut that I need to make between each of the 20 or so AVIs. Seemed to work yesterday but yesterday I was cutting much bigger pieces (editting)... now that I'm just combining them, I'm cutting smaller pieces and when I save it as AVI, I end up with a combined file which I then open in Widnwos Media Player where NONE of the small cuts show up. Upon re-opening VirtualDub and checking the file, I find a [D] where the cut should have been on either side... but the content is still there)

    Specs taken with AVICodex:

    File : 154 MB (154 MB), duration: 0:03:26, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 80 %
    Video : 120 MB, 4888 Kbps, 15.0 fps, 1024*768 (4:3), tscc = TechSmith Screen Capture Codec, Supported
    Audio : 34 MB, 1411 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x1 = PCM, Supported

    Hope all that helps.

Quick question: can I re-sync an audio in VDub? I asked this in another thread a few hours ago but figured someone reading this might be able to point me to a report or tutorial or an answer as to how I can resync the audio to a video to which I just changed the frame rate (took the frame rate from 8.0000 to 15.0000 but now, of course, the audio is behind as the video is running nearly twice the speed it was before.
