Hi all i am new here. I have been dwaddeling round the guides for a while but this is a first in the forums.
See i have this problem. At a time I tought only 80 min woould fit on a vcd and so i made a vcd set of a movie. Now the movie was fitted on 3 discs wich are now badley scratched. I just got a dvd burner, and would like to burn the movie as a dvd only problem is i dont know how to join the 3 dat files. I have converted them all to dvd using winavi but now what do i do next? i would like to use those those "dvd" files because they have taken some time to convert. (you know dont want to convert to diffrent type. but if i must...)

If the movie was vcd to begin with then you didnt need to convert with winavi since they are already dvd compliant, just extract the dat file with either vcdeasy or vcdgear and use tmpgenc dvd author and add all 3 mpg onto the same track and they will be joined.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Did you originally make your VCDs from a DVD ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

yes i did make it from an original dvd, but dont have it now (duh) and since its holiday i wont be seweing that friend to borrow it from him, plus i want to make my own dvd with own subtitles and such to learn to work with the whole thing.

So basicly i want to put the 3 movie parts (they were to long to fit on one cd) back to one movie. that all i want for now.

So what i need is a program that will let me select my video files (i dont really care what type i have to make them) and it wil make it one single movie

    No.

I was actually going to suggest that the DVD Backup route was probably a lot quicker and was going to result in a lot better quality backup in the end. Sometimes people can't see the forest for the trees.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    VideoHelp Acceptable Use Policy

Fair use DOES NOT APPLY TO rentals or borrowed media.

Basically that's saying that you are not allowed to discuss copying your friend's DVDs here ... unless they're homemade pron or something
    If in doubt, Google it.
