    Hi,

Most dvd players won't read a mpg file. You need to author it to dvd. It is a special structure containing vob files and ifo and bup files.

HERE is some detailed info on what a dvd really is.

You can use programs like tmpgenc dvd author, ulead dvd movie factory, and countless others to make your dvd.

Check out the "how to" section under AUTHORING for more details (on the left of the page)

If possible bumb your RAM up to 512, it will make a world of difference overall when using your computer.

    ,

If it's a DVD compliant video complete with menus most likely your players don't support the -R type disc. You can look to the left for player/disc compatibilities. If it's just a data disc with a mpeg file on it as mentioned by Yoda most standalone DVD players won't play a mpeg file.

Where to go from there depends on what you have, one question at time. Is it a DVD with menus or just a file?

Open up your burning app like Roxio or Nero. Create a ISO file or disc image from the disc you have now. There will be directions in the help file for this. Burn the image file or ISO file to a +R disc. That will make an exact copy on the new disc. Make sure you buy some good discs, another reason why it might not play is because of crap media, media ratings and comments can be found to the left as well. And again look your player up to the left for compatibility.

Even the cheap computer DVD players are more robust than most standalones which is why your computer DVD player can read the disc.

Yip, what everyone else said. You need to take the mpg and author it as a DVD. In Nero (Roxio is probably similar) just go to make a DVD and add your mpg as a file, Nero will do the rest.

That's possible but chances of that are pretty slim.
