I don't know this from my own experience, but certainly the experience of quite a few forum members here suggests that CucuSoft is utter crap, in a similar league to any Roxio products. Dump that crapware, use something like DivxToDVD or do it the manual way.
If in doubt, Google it. -
Fix it by using something else.

We're gonna need some more info, such as the type of audio in the source AVI - I'm guessing either VBR MP3 or AC3. TMPGEnc is synonymous for choking on this.
I'd suggest using the latest GSpot (2.52 Beta) on both your AVI and on one of the final VOB files, to see what type your source audio was, and then to see if there's any audio at all in the final product. There's also a chance you encoded to ES (Video Only), which would have given you no audio as well.
As you can see, we're gonna need a shitload more info than you've provided so farIf in doubt, Google it. -
As stated above, TMPGEnc is lousy at encoding audio. In addition to the above, try raising the priority of Directshow Multimedia File Reader to 2 by right clicking on it. You will find it at Options>Environmental Settings>VFAPI Plug-in. Or, convert the audio to wav with Virtualdub (freeware) or Goldwave (shareware) and enter separately into TMPGEnc. Guides for both to the left. Finally, ensure you use interlaced (page 2 of the wizard). Don't know where it is if only using main window.
