I'm using Premiere Pro to edit my movies and have run into a problem. I can encode to .wmv fine (low file size & good quality), but when I try to convert to either .mov or .mpg, the file size is very large and the audio in .mov is terrible. I would like to be able to create .mov clips that resemble the movie trailers. The trailers are very high quality (vid/sound) and they have a relatively low file size. I have been reading about a program called ProCoder Express (Canopus) and have reviewed great feedback from users. Has anyone here used the program and how does it do encoding avi to mov/mpg via Premiere Pro? I believe it has a direct plug-in with PPro (timeline).

The difference in file size is a product of the container that you use. mpeg likely has the largest file size. For small file size and good quality stick with avi. mpg wouldn't be necessary unless you plan on authoring dvd's. other formats, wmv, mov, rm, can be used, but are not the preferred containers (except for web use) and are harder to work with and have fewer good tools to use.

avi and mpg are the top choices with the most support.

    Krispy Kritter-

I should have clarified these videos will be used for web use only, so I will need to use the best quality/smallest sizes. I believe mpeg-1 is the correct version to use for the web. The great thing about mpeg video is that any browser should pick it up as apposed to wmv and mov.

Have you experienced ProCoder Express software?

    Thanks!
