  1. I follow instructions to create SVCD MPEG2 from my avi source file. When I try to burn the SVCD in NERO, it says my mpeg is not compliant - must be either 480x480 @ 29.97 or 480x576@ 25. I have to either cancel, re-encode the mpeg, or continue in NON-COMPLIANCE. My source is 640x272@ 23.976. I've tried several different settings in TMPEnc but just get more confused. Thanks for all the help.

  2. There is a box in the NERO options that is checked if you want to create a standard compliant vcd. If your DVD player can play XVCD's, just uncheck the standard compliance box and continue with burn. If your DVD cannot play XVCD, then you must reencode either with NERO or TMPGEnc.

    I would stick with TMPGEnc.

Nero does not give you a file you can keep.

SVCD does look funny when encoding but when burned it plays fine. Just stick to the SVCD template in TMPGEnc

  4. I have a guess...

If you are creating an NTSC SVCD and encoding it at 23.976 FPS, you need to apply pulldown to make the MPEG SVCD compliant.

If you are using TMPEGEnc, then select "3:2 pulldown when playback" under the Encode mode dropdown.

If you are using another encoder, download and run the Pulldown.exe program found in the tools section.

    Good luck,
