  1. I created a nice family slideshow and set it to music. Windows media player cannot burn it to disc. Nor will Nero. Can some one tell me how to take this slideshow and burn it to a DVD disc so that it will play on anyone's DVD player?

I have Nero 6 software with a Sony DRU-720A DVD/CD Rewritable drive (+-R) 16x. Any help for me (newbie) would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks all

  2. You need to convert the wmv files to MPEG2 first using TMPGEnc Plus.
You then then need to author the MPEG2 files using TMPGEnc DVD Author to DVD Files VOB IFO ect...TMPGEnc DVD Author will output to a VIDEO_TS folder. You can then burn the VIDEO_TS folder using Nero.If you use DVD+R DVD media see if you can change the booktype to DVD-ROM using Nero, before burning because its more likely to play on most DVD Players.

  4. Cool. This is THE site when it comes to DVD,so be sure to add it to your favs.
Other MPEG2 encoders that are faster are CCE Basic and Mainconcept MPEG Encoder(Of course you have to pay though)MainConcept is my fav and produces good quality MPEG's,its also lightning FAST(If your inpatient).TMPGEnc Plus should accept wmv files but if you have probs with other encoders you can quickly and easily convert the wmv's to avi using River Past Video Cleaner(You have to pay again, sorry) with the huffyuv codec (Very fast and lossless, quality wise)The MPEG2 Encoders will then definitely accept the video.
You can use TMPGEnc DVD Author to create menus, chapters ect....when done click output and by default the file will be put into TMPGEnc DVD folder in your Documents folder.
Hopefully your DVD Writer supports changing the Booktype to DVD-ROM because this will play on most DVD Players, like you asked.
Another good way to burn the DVD Files processed by TMPGEnc DVD Author is to open them in to IMGTools Classic (Freeware)and convert them to an ISO file. You can then use the best burning app ever DVDDecrypter(More Freeware),which is sadly dead,RIP,to produce great results.Remember never burn any faster than 4x or the DVD+R might be unreadable.DVDDecrypter can change the booktype, just click on the open book icon on the left of write speed settings.Verbatim DataLife Plus 8x (Lead-In MCC 003) are a great brand of DVD-/+R media to use.

    Good Luck

  5. I DID IT!!! I followed your directions and downloaded the software you recommended & I was able to recode the .wmv file into a DVD format and popped it into my dvd player less than an hour later. My wife was very pleased with my newbie accomplishment! I have great video and audio quality and can't wait to ship it to family members.

    Thanks so much!
