I bought a PAL DVD by mistake. I can watch on the PC but prefer to watch on TV. I've tried to convert the four VOB video files to AVI so I can reauthor but WINAVI refuses...TMPGEnc will do the first one without audio and hangs on the others. I tried ISO Edit and followed the guide precisely. Nero refused to burn it. I tried DVDSanta and added the four VOB files and set it for NTSC hoping it would convert and burn. The end result was a folder containing VOB 1 duplicated four times. I must be doing something wrong because other people are getting good results. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Try taking a look at this here link ---> CLICK HERE

That is a fairly simple method, give or take.

There is no real one-click/easy solution for PAL to NTSC other than using a region free DVD player that does on-the-fly PAL to NTSC conversion.

  3. U don't add the VOB's to DVDSanta to convert Pal to NTSC. Simply drag the VIDEO_TS.IFO file from your source dvd over to the program and the continue as normally. Select the proper aspect ratio, click NTSC and then let DVDSanta do it's work. This method has worked for me on several PAL dvd's that I had. The only thing is that you will end up with movie only rips w/o menu and extras.

FulciLives, I appreciate your response but I'm not experienced enough to tackle such a complex procedure.

Mista Ed.... I tried to do it your way. dvdSanta wouldn't let me drag and drop...I'm using Version 3.45. I added the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and created the DVD. It took one minute to convert and gave me only one VOB file for one minute of video. Should I be looking at Advanced Settings? Should I be using Version 4? Should I throw in the towel? I really hate to give up.

I think I've got it!! I double clicked on the IFO file and the time duration window opened. All I had to do was enter the duration of the video and I think it's working.

Yes, it's done and it's not bad. The video speeds up occasionally, but it's viewable. dvdSanta did the job but without help I never would have figured it out. Thanks again.
