I bought a new NEC ND3540A, it says it records up to 16x DVD+R, I have 2 50 packs of JVC DVD+R 1-8X discs, everytime I try to record onto those DVDs, it only lets me record at 2.4x. I use anyDVD with CloneDVD2, and I also have nero, but it won't let me select the burn speed, and it's stuck on 2.4x. any suggestions?

Have you checked to see if DMA is enabled for the drive in the 'Device Manager'?

yes, it's enabled. both primary and secondary. The Drives are on the secondary.

If DMA is OK, then the next suspect is the media. You might want to look it up to the left under 'DVD Media'. And since you have Nero, try Nero CD-DVD Speed and see what it says about the media.
Next, try some different media. There is a user lists of DVD media compatible with your burner, also to the left.
It might also be your burner programs, but that's unlikely to happen with three different programs. -
You've probably got the quite unusual 8x media made by Wealthfair Investment: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=3149
It has pretty bad firmware support so I'm a bit surprised to see a brand like JVC using it. Anyway there might be some patched firmware available for your NEC that allows a higher burn speed.
