game playing problem! need for speed undreground 2

I bought need for speed underground 2 a while ago and I remember playing it without problems.

Recently I installed it again but when I get to the main menu there are parts of the menu that appear and disappear quickly after. I managed to play a track and there are bits of the track and car that appear and disappear at a constatnt rate.

Can anyone help me with this?

I have directx 9c, geforce fx5200 with latest drivers. I downloaded the patches from the electronic arts site but the game still plays with bits and bobs diappearing and appearing on screen

Obviously something you've updated since playing it successfully is causing the issue. Game-playing glitches like the ones you're experiencing are normally DirectX-related in my experience. Maybe try and get a hold of DirectX 9b ? www.oldversion.com might have it. Either that or see if you can roll back your geforce drivers to a previous version.
