  1. Has anyone yet to try capturing google earth into an avi? Seems like it would be a cool thing to play around with. I tried it with camtasia studio, but didn't have any luck.

  3. Look in the settings for Google Earth and you'll see there's various DirectX and OpenGL modes.

Experiment again with Camtasia Studio with the various different graphics modes.
I think Google Earth defaults to software emulation for DirectX/OpenGL when first installed, regardless of what video card you have installed in your pc, leaving any (available) hardware acceleration available unused.

I'd guess that it's running in software emulation mode and Camtasia 'may' work if you enable hardware acceleration.

Sorry i can't be more specific about the settings but i uninstalled Google Earth from my PC once i got fed up with it!

  4. Well, I got camtasia to work if I unchecked the 'disable display accelleration' checkbox...it shows this popup when I do that...

Problem with doing that is it records very choppy and pretty much useless avi's. If i leave the 'disable display acceleration' checked the avi's are typically much better, but google earth just goes black and it doesn't record it. I tried both directx and opengl settings in Googlearth.
I'l try and mess with camtasia settings a tad more.

  7. Thats Tmax,
that is exactly what I was looking for. Guess camtesia can't capture dirextx renderings, but this thing did exactly the trick. It does kind of beat up on your framerate, but it's a cool app.
