I have photoshop and I am attempting my first custom dvd cover. I have an image that is smaller than the dvd case cover (290x397) that looks great at this size but I want to blow it up to fit the cover. Is there a way to do this but still keep the image looking as sharp and clear as it does at its original size?

I also found a cover that is 800x537 with resolution 300x300. Can I enlarge it to 1493x1000 or even 2047x1393 with res 96x96. If so How would I go about changing the WxH and the resolution within photoshop?

No, but by blowing it up Photoshop will guesstimate what belongs there so it won't look blocky giving you a soft/blurry but non-pixelated image. Once you've blown up you could try applying some more contrast or other filter.

I don't know how PS works.... so someone else will have to clue you in on that.

There is a program called MultiCoverPrint that prints to the exact size needed. Last I saw it the program was still free. It is all I use to print my covers(though I don't print that many). As long as I have the proportions correct on the original....it doesn't matter....it will print them perfectly.

Uncheck the resample image box. That will only change the resolution and not the actual dimensions of the image. Of course, going below 150 will result in crap but acceptable quality.

If this was custom, why didn't you start with a huge file to begin with?
