  1. I have NERO, and the latest update 5.1

    I noticed that nero is not releasing the new layer Mpeg2 encoding till August 2001. Can I use another Mpeg2 encoder to make SVCDs till that one is released? I guess what I am asking, is can I us a different encoder with this software or can I only use Nero software? It shows in the "extras" section under file encoding that I can choose my encoders?

    Any good Mpeg Layer 2 encoders free out there???You would recomend as user friendly....

    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    @Spankey

    The latest Nero update is 5.5.2.4!

    As griffin224 mentioned use TMPGEnc to encode your files. And yes, the finished SVCD mpeg can be used in Nero.

  4. Ok-
    My appologies, I do infact have 5.2 nero. My new question is this. Do you run this Tmpg seperate or do you add it to the nero. If I run it seperate will my burner recognize the software???

    thanks

    And my 5.2 shows the VCD and SVCD file, but shows the Mpeg2 as empty? How can you use the SVCD if it isn't there. Am I missing something? Sorry I am new at this. Thanks for being understanding....

    I personally would run TMPGEnc seperately as you will (maybe not at first) but later change templates in a way that works best for you. After encoding in TMPGEnc you will be able to put the file in Nero. If Nero doesn't like something (wrong size, bitrate or whatever) it will point this out.

    As for the second part of your question - I presume you mean the SVCD directory? If so, it shouldn't be empty but contain files with .svd and .dat entries. If you are wondering where your mpeg has ended up, its converted and stored in the MPEG2 (or MPEGAV if you change the compatibility) directory.
