    Linear and Non-Linear editing.

    Someone more qualified can provide the definition. :P

    I'm no expert but here is goes!

    Linear: had to do with the actual cutting of film or video tape and splicing the pieces back together. You worked in a linear fashion along the length of the film or tape. The process was "destructive" in that everything you did was permanent. You are creating a final edited film or video from actual physical pieces or clips from your original video or film

    Non linear is a non distructive " Virtual " method where you can edit to your hearts content but you are not really affecting or destroying the original source. You are really creating a set of instructions that the NLE applies to create the actual final edited form during output or rendering. Your original clips remain intact and you end up with a 2nd piece of video with all the changes and effects you created during editing.
    No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
