Hello all. I do want to know if this is the kind of topic that you folks discuss here. I'm not sure.

My subject line says it all, basically. I'm rather astonished and alarmed (the program cost me $100) that this simple feature is missing or super difficult to see, especially since I realized that the Arcsoft program (Video Impression 2) that came with my digital camera allows me to simply adjust the brightness and contrast of movie clips via it's easy to locate edit window. However, While I can do that okay, the 'publish' feature, which allows me to save the edited clip to my hard drive, seems to want to add in a high pitch whine that ruins the clip. I've experienced both times I've used the program - which I didn't realize I had until after I had bought the Nero 6.

windows xp home, Pentium 4 at 1.7 GHz, sole user, Asus P4B mb, 1 gig sdram, Plexwriter cd burner 24/10/40A, Asus 16x dvd player, SoundBlaster Live 5.1, only Nero 6 Ultra (unless my Arcsoft and winamp burn cds)

Thanks in advance. For some reason, This question elicits zero responses in all the forums I ask it in. I'm here, however, not just because I can't get a simple answer to a simple question and will keep asking around until I do. I had already been directed to this site by another happy member who I had a discussion with about what dvd player to buy. I bought the Philips 642 by the way, although my first choice was the LG LDA 530. No one had that LG on his/her store shelf.

    Thanks in advance.

Nerovision Express is a simple all-in-one converter solution, it doesn't come with any filter capabilities...well you can do some if you use it to capture video.

If you need something to change brightness and such get a better tool like prepare your video in Virtualdub and convert to dvd with a separate tool. Or use something like Vegas Movie Studio.

  3. Okay...I'll take a stab at it. How about because Nero is a burning application. To adjust the brightness of a clip you need some sort of a video editor (Ulead, Vegas, Premiere, etc)

Nerovision Express has a "Video Effects" tab in the video editor window. There is a color filter and a gamma correction filter available. Granted they are very basic filters but may be sufficient to your needs. Just add it to your video timeline and make the required adjustments.

Thanks guys. I'm still astonished that this 'full' featured suite can't throw in a 'totally related' function like brightness and contrast adjustment. That's just me. I certainly understand when folks tell me it 'only' burns.

I'll 'take a stab' at finding something, other than my Arcsoft, that can perform that function for me. I might even have something, now that I think of it. I've got something by Ulead that came with something else a long time ago.

    I appreciated the replies.
