  1. this is a problem I don't think I solved before and is coming back again...

I'd like to render a motion menu so that a small clip is shown on the menu..generally this works fine. However, then I decide to add an additional text box to my menu (info only, no links) and I can't get this text box onto the authoried menu ... it shows up on the project menu, but when I author the DVD it's not there.

I try rerendering the motion menu and it doesn't get picked up to be added to the motion and if I try w/o rerendering, it doesn't get picked up either.

It's weird..it's there, but not in the authored version (even when I view the prepared files w/ nero on the PC before trying to burn on a disk).

Funny thing is I have this same text on one menu, and it shows up no problem. But on the other two menus (switched), I can't get it on the final product. And, the object on menu 1 has all the same properties as on 2 and 3!!

In menu 1, it is rendered already into the motion menu. However, even if I try to delete the motion on 2 and 3 and rerender, it's still not there. And, it's not in the list of objects in the render dialogue, so it's not the case that its on the list and just not selected.

Anyone see anything similar in the past? I'm hoping it's something simple that I am overlooking?? TIA

Never had the problem you described.

you can always try to add the info you want on to the small clip with a video editor and after that is done put the small clip in to the menu and render it.

    hope it helps!!!

    DaveS:

You need to use the Render Motion menu option. This will re encode the video with the added text and make a new mpeg file for you to use as the motion menu.

  5. yeah - I tried all of the above..re-encoding, etc. it's weird, but dvdlab just doesn't 'see' the addt'l text I am adding. So, I thought maybe it can't add text to an existing encode, so I deleted the old background and tried to encode the background from scratch, but it didn't pick it up there either. It's just weird is all I can say. I am hoping to avoid this but I may need to do the menus over w/ all text from the beginning...I could do other workarounds like encode text myself over the background video in an editor I suppose...any other ideas? This one has me stumpted? It seems like a bug, but all too often we assume a bug when it's not (although the default auto routing was off too)...

As much as I love DVD Lab Pro, I never produce motion menus from within DLP. I always prep outside and just bring in the finished clips when needed.

  7. What programs do you all recommend for bringing from outside in?

I'm aggravated that my menus go from 16x9 to 4:3 when I render in DVD-lab. Any way around this?

I create menus in Vegas and/or After Effects, with subpictures coming in from photoshop. I have offered a suggestion in your post about menu ARs
