    Hi,

I have an epson c80 and I've recently replace the ink cartridges. It shows new ink in the status monitor but nothing is printing. I've had this happen before but it usually solved itself on rebooting. This time its not working. A big problem is its the black ink this time. So you can't print regular documents.

I've been reading on the net that the c80 has a notorious problem in this situation. One site mentioned a cap might be loose on the inside preventing proper vacuum seals.

Has anyone experienced this problem?? Have you ever done self maintainance like taking the cover off??? Its out of warranty so thats not an issue. It's a ten dollar service call to tech support so I'm holding off on that right now. I did drop off a email to epson so hopefully I'll get a response soon.

And yes I did try a driver update. I did do all the selfdiagnostic cleaning routines. Nothings worked.

    Thanks for any insight.

not certain on this particular model but it could be that you need a new print head not just ink tank. Also there is the obvious.... are you sure you got all the tape off the bottom before installing it? You could also run it through a cleaning cycle a few times to see if that helps NOTE that will burn up some ink ( and not just the one that is the problem )

    Hi,

    Thanks for writing.

I've done all the self test repair stuff I can. Nothing doing on that front. I've shaked the cartridge and I think the tape is not obstructing anything.

I'll have to check with the tech support via email to find out if the print head is going bad.
