Hi-
First open your video in AutoGK. Then hit CTRL/F8. That will cause a new line to appear at the top.
Then you can choose either IDX/SUB files,
or you can choose SRT, SUB, TXT, or SSA format text based subs to use.

This thread was very helpful to me. For anybody having trouble with audio and the Toshiba SD-185E-K-TB player (video playing okay but no sound), here's what worked for me.
- Open the .avi file with VirtualDub; if you get a warning about variable bitrate (VBR), the audio needs conversion.
- Do File > File information; under Audio stream, check if Sampling rate is 44100Hz, Channels is 2 (Stereo), Compression is Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec, and Data rate is 128 kbps; if any of these is different, probably the audio needs conversion (I say "probably" because this is the one type of stream that so far worked with my player, but there may be others).
- To convert the audio, continue.
- Ensure that the Fraunhofer MP3 Codec is properly installed, for example following the instructions here.
- If you had to install the codec, restart VirtualDub and reopen the .avi file.
- Do Video > Direct stream copy.
- Do Audio > Full processing mode.
- Do Audio > Compression, select MPEG Layer-3 and 128 kBit/s, 44.100 Hz, Stereo; if this combination is not available, you need to first do Audio > Conversion and select the desired Sampling rate and no of Channels.
- Do File > Save as AVI and save the converted file under a different name.

Hi all, I've followed the guide on how to remove the qpel codec, but i no sound on the converted source. I've tried doing the virtualdub to convert the audio to wav, but in file info i see that my original avi has no compressor, it says unknown (tag2000) and so vdub cannot continue. can anyone pls help?
I have theFraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec installed but vdub still gives me the error "no audio decompressor could be found.." -
Use a utility like GSpot or Mediainfo to see what codecs your video uses. They're also helpful for determining whether or not your videos have QPEL, GMC warppoints, etc.
...but why are you trying to have VirtualDub convert the audio to WAVE format? If you're just trying to recompress an .AVI so that it plays on a DivX/Xvid-capable DVD player, install AutoGK with the ESS option enabled (if you haven't already, and as Baldrick's initial post suggested), and give it the AVI you want converted. It'll do all the work for you.If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
