Are there any programs that you can use to burn AVI files but use the original image height and width instead of picking full or wide screen. Something preferably without a menu creator.

you can only use dvd image sizes, www.videohelp.com/dvd#tech.

You can however for example create a 4:3 video with a black background. Overlay your video on this and it will maintain the aspect. The black, top and bottom becomes part of the video creating an artificial letterbox.
Just about every DVD authoring app has the ability to create a first play video, drop your video in the first play spot and skip the menu. I'm not sure if this works in all authoring apps but in mine you can continue to add videos without making a menu.
If it's a Divx video the easiest solution is to get a standalone DVD player that supports Divx playback.
