  1. Oh, and the codecs for my camera? They came with the install CD...but for good measure I dl'd the k-lite codes (24mb) and installed them all (3 times now LOL) is that bad for my computer to re-install the same set of codecs 3 times?

    hmmm...

Did you open the AVS or the AVI?
You had to open the AVS with quenc...

my bad you triple posted, didn'T see it =).

    uninstall all codecs first..
    restart
    re-install

this should be the proper method.

btw, if you are using quenc,
    it is ConvertToYV12()
    instead of Converttoyuy2()

    Strange. Really Strange.

I just encoded it with Quenc.
    output is 100% fine.

    filter.. graph.. manager? hmm...

this might sound really weird but......

Can you copy the video to C:\ and name it something simple
    EX: C:\Test1.avi

and modify the Avisynth script to point to that file.
your path is a little bit too complicated..

    nononoo not desktop, to C:\.
because desktop is complicated too... (C:\Documents and settings\#username\Desktop).

btw, encoding is very fine (Y) No chunkyness!!!

but you will encounter a big problem with audio.

so i'm already trying to fix this =|||.

    Hey man.
I just created a whole new different method, just for you!
Since your files are uniques - MJPG and PCM WAV as audio [...] - well, BeSweet didn'T work on it.
    That means, NO AUDIO!

but, I found a quick-around with Nandub... and Yes! It will be batched! Do not worry!

But in the meantime, I just need a little sleep.

    keep me on the news.
I'll be there tomorrow at the same time.

    peace man!

Wow... your the best! My own method... makes me feel all warm inside LOL =)

Ok, I un-installed K-Lite...restarted...re-installed ffDirectShow (or whatever it was called)...re-started...moved to C:\test1.avs ...tried to re-open with windowsmediaplayer.... and the Filter Graph Manager still hasn't learned to express his true feeling to Direct Show Source! LOL I just cant seem to get this AVS thing to work! I'm going to try un-installing AvSynth and re-installing... get some sleep...I'll look for ya tommorow.

    Thanks again....

  10. aktee, I double clicked the MainEncoding.bat file to start the process. The program was running fine for awhile, then I got this error: "avs2yuv.exe-application error. The instruction at "0x00f48bfc" referenced memory at "0x00f73718". The memory could not be "read". Any ideas how I can fix this?

  11. So any luck figuring out why my DirectShow and FilterGraph arn't speaking to each other? Also, I tried DLing Nandub... interesting offshoot of Virtualdub... I must have had the settings screwed up, because I got a major blocky result. I know my computer is fast enough to do this stuff...my ATi Captures are flawless... and running duel processors, I get quick results. Can't wait to hear what you have in store for me next....

hmm.. wow that's more like an software-related technical problem.. =|.. I can't really help you on that, you should ask people over at quenc's forum (if there is any)

hey man! sorry for the long time. today was a reaally rough day..
    As for Directshow and filtergraph...

    install the latest ffdshow http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm

    reboot
    and try the AVS..

sorry man, i'm going to go sleep earlier tonight.. I got this huge headache that is killing me!!

As for the nandub thing =) don't worry, let's focus on the Video first. because I reaaally doubt you'd want to make an DVD-Audio disk right? =))).

    sorry again man.

    edit

reinstalling FFDSHOW, was that what you were doing in the other post? when you said something about ffdirectshow or something?

were you installing the latest version?

    hmm hmm...

because.. I got it successfully here. It's really a codec matter.

  13. LOL... get some sleep man... I'll go DL the ffshow and install...then try again...then try running AVS again... I'll let ya know tommorow how things turned out ( because if I post it tonight, you may be tempted to stay up and play LOL!!! )

  14. Troubleshooting video and audio problems

AviSynth will by default try to open only the media it can open without any problems. If one component cannot be opened it will simply not be added to the output. This will also mean that if there is a problem, you will not see the error. To get the error message to the missing component, use audio=false or video=false and disable the component that is actually working. This way AviSynth will print out the error message of the component that doesn't work.
"The Filter Graph won't talk to me"

This is a common error that occurs when DirectShow isn't able to deliver any format that is readable to AviSynth. Try creating a filter graph manually and see if you are able to construct a filter graph that delivers any output AviSynth can open. If not, you might need to download additional DirectShow filters that can deliver correct material.

Ok... so I'm having a common problem...that's a relief... not sure where to go from here... I'll try audio=false...video=false...and figure out which one is broken. After I do that though, I have no clue how to make a FilterGraph! But like I said, this can wait until tommorow LOL GET SOME SLEEP!
    Quote Quote
  15. I GOT SOUND!!!! LOL..ok, I said I wasn't going to post tonight...but I got so excited I finally got SOMETHING to work. So now that narrows down my problem to a VIDEO problem ( I installed the ffdshow codec...was I supposed to check ALL theboxes in the set-up? MJPG was already checked) I'll go online and do some more searching, and try to figure this out...see ya tommorow.

    Okay. This is f*cked up!

I may repeat myself.. but now I'm going to guide you step by step. =).

    1- Restart as Safe-Mode.

2- Uninstall ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL codecs. Everything related to codecs, uninstall! (DiVX, K-Lite, FFDSHOW, avisynth).

    3- Restart to normal mode..

4- Open the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack Installation.

5- On the "Select Components", choose Profile 7:Power User (1).

6- Scroll down, and put a check on "Register main DirectShow filters". It is the last one.

    7- Press next and install...

    8- Restart.

    9- Download Avisynth 2.55
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=57023&package_id=72557&release_id=264874

    10- Install it.

    11- Restart

    12- Try the video.

phew. It may sound newbie-ish but... please try. If, after that, it still does not work...

    well...

    I'm clueless. =|.

we'll have to dig our brains out and figure out how the hell the program "GraphEdit" works, so we can create our own Filter Graphs.. =)..

sorry again man. I feel powerless.

  17. Heya Aktee, got another one for you.

Encode with no errors, wonderful. Play the MPG in media player classic, and the colors are waaaaaay off! It's the same in the m2v file when it's played. everyone is blue, now if I were watching Yamato, and looking at Gamilons, blue is good, but not when it's people.

Any ideas? I haven't played with this much, as my computer was down from dead mobo-itis, which has been fixed, so now I'm back to playing around with this stuff.

The episodes I'm doing now are Full Moon Wo Sagashite, but I also had this happen on Naruto.

BTW - still wrestling with the cut off ends to the Bleach eps.

Edit: Found out something else interesting, it's not in the encoding that the colors change, it's in the AVS file, when I play that prior to encoding, the colors are off. Perhaps the answer is there? Here is an avs file:

    AVISource("C:\AviSource\FullMoon01.avi")
    lanczosResize(660,440)
    AddBorders(30,20,30,20)
    ConvertToYV12()

    you're using quenc, right?
hmm. Just for fun, just try ConvertToYUY2() instead of YV12. Just to see if it makes the same thing..

    if yes, put back YV12.

Then try, DirectShowSource("filename.avi", 23.976) instead of AVISource...

of course, change 23.976 if it is not the correct framerate.

It happened to me once.. I forgot with which anime, damn! But all I did was change the FourCC code of the video..

  19. aktee just wanted to say great guide, been wondering when someone would make a guide for avi to mpeg conversion geared specifically for anime.

i burned my first bleach dvd. i authored the dvd with dvdlab pro.....? when i view the dvd on tv the picture is slightly off center to the left. would that have something to do with the way cce encoded the avi or something in the authoring prog? sorry for the long post.

Hey! Thanks for your comments! Btw, your post is NOT a long post. If you want to check LONG Post, check page 2 of this thread =))

    As for your question..

slightly off center to the left? hmm.. We never know, it might be your TV or your DVD-Player.

One way to know if it's from one of these is to..
-Check the encoded file. Does it look okay? Horizontal Bars should be same size, and Vertical Bars should be same size.
-Check the authored product on the PC. Does the bar stays the same? Does it change?

If.., in the encoded file, there's a problem with the error, then your error is in the AVS file.

If it's in the authored part, then you must be doing something wrong in the author. =\..

If everything is okay but still display wrongs when playing.. Try to put your DVD on another TV. It shouldn't be too much complicated.

If it stills do it, try another DVD-Player..

    Biggest possibilities are:
    -Screwup in the AVS
    -Super-Cool Plasma/LCD Tv having a weird ratio.

Please try. If you can't fix it, reply here, I'll troubleshoot you =).

If you are successful, reply anyway =)

  21. Hey aktee, I'm back after a hectic day... I meant to ask you, how should I go about removing codecs? Are they in the control pannel? And also, I think I accidentally installed AVSynth 3 or 4 times...maybe that is screwing with the GraphManager? I'm going to write to FujiFilm and ask them how I get the MJPG codec to work with AVSynth...but not tonight LOL I'll keep ya posted.

Hey! Finally man! Seems like you got your share of the rough day.

    Yeah. Control Panel / Add-Remove.

omg. Avisynth 3-4 times? LOL!!! Might be one of the reason!!

As for writing fujifilm, it will only be a waste of time.
They will tell you the same thing as if you call Microsoft to ask them how Adobe Photoshop works..
"We do not have any responsabilities with 3rd party software. blablabla"

Plus.. technical supports are educated to teach you to "locate the USB or Firewire port, to install the software, to open the camera.."

Just try a big codec cleanup. Don't forget to boot in Safe-Mode to remove the codecs!!!!!

    in the first batch. BatchConvert.bat
    please look carefully, it's there.

    Burning:
    Nero (gotta buy)
    DVD Decrypter (free)

    Authoring:
TMPGENC DVD Author. (trialware. im pretty sure this is what you are looking for: simple, basic)
    Else..

  26. Thanks for the help Aktee. Changing to directshowsource fixed that color problem, so I can continue there.

But I'm still having problems with a few episodes being cut off at the end. 1 episode in particular drops like 3 minutes at the end. I've tried removing / reinstalling codecs, but still no luck.

When I play the avs, it plays to the end just fine, but it's in the encoded video that it gets cut off.

In case you want to know, it's AIR episode 7 that I'm having the most problems with. 1-6, 8-13 have no problems converting, just #7 errors out and drops the last 3 minutes.

What info should I give you from here to try to figure out the cause?

I really have no idea - there's no option of "Timecode" or something about it in Quenc..

Can you try with another encoder? If possible just try with the trial version of CCE. Just to see if it cuts.

But before that, try downloading another version of Quenc... Somewhere =\.

It never happened to me before..
    Quote Quote
  28. Well, I use FFMpeg for encoding not Quenc. Everytime I've tried Quenc, it's errored out. Besides being painfully slow, especially compared to ffmpeg, it's just never worked, so it makes testing a pain.

I'll try the eval of CCE, and let you know what happens.

I just can't see why it only happens on some vids, and not all......

Do you mind uploading one episode? I wanna try that... with FFMPEG.

  30. I'm uploading Air - episode 7 - the one I'm having the cut off with, to you now, so once it finishes, let me know what you get.

I've downloaded this file again and again, from different sites, with the same result from all, so hopefully, you'll have the same problem, and I don't feel so special.
