windows unable to detect CD/DVD rom drives...

just as the subject says....

MotherBoard:
Asus K8N-E Delux
CD Rom:
ASUS CD-S520/A4
DVD Burner:
Nec DVD_RW ND-3500AG

i have tried to uninstall them both and reinstall them.
BIOS sees them
i havn't tried to change the IDE (im not sure if im right, but if the BIOS is seeing it it should be working?)
updated the driver on the ASUS one, but it still doesnt show up.
virus/spywear, up to date scans.

What are the jumper settings on the back of the drives?

they are set up as master , set it up backwards lol =D

but they just went out, they worked fine until sometime recently (past week)

Maybe he has them on different IDE channels.

im not an expert at setting it up and i forgot everything since first semester (A+ computer maintance) ^_^

i think the cd/dvd = master/slave, and the hds = secondary master/slave

if thats what its callled, ill have to go in bios and find this out for sure
