hi. i am using Adaptec VideOh! DVD Media Center USB 2.0 Edition to capture home movies to my hdd and convert them to dvd. i am using the sonic MyDVD version: 5.2.3. that came bundled with the Adaptec capture device.
for some reason, the finished mpeg file that is saved to my hdd contains annoying short sharp 'crackles/pops' on the soundtrack. they occur every so many minutes on the movie file and it becomes annoying. the Adaptec support reckon that this only occurs, if at all, when the final stages of the process of creating your dvd files (when they are ready for burning) is reached and suggest that you update ASPI drivers. this is not true, as i have checked the original mpeg file that was saved to my hdd and the crackles/pops are present. i have also tried deleting the original mpeg file that i saved to hdd and transferred the same home movie to hdd again using my Adaptec device and on occasion there is no crackles/pops present at all. so that rules out degraded video tapes etc.
i am using windows xp pro, amd athlon xp 2600+ on asrock k7s8x motherboard, 1gb pc2700 ram, at moment 60gb free of a 114gb hdd that is ntfs format, TMPGEnc DVD Author for creating the DVD and nero 6 for burning. FX 5200 geforce graphics card and AC97 onboard audio.
any ideas folks? many thanks.![]()
