    Hello!

I would like to know how to convert a .bin file, with its corresponding .cue file, back to .avi.

    Extract the content with isobuster.
If it is a svcd or vcd read https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/141726.php and then convert the mpg to avi with for example dr.divx, virtualdub-mpeg2,autogk.

  3. If all you want to do is play the file, use daemon tools.

It will create a virtual CD drive for you. Mount your bin/cue image using daemon tools, open the virtual drive in Windows Explorer, then just play the file as per normal

Thank you both for your input. However, there remains a problem: re. Baldrick, I followed the indications you provided to convert the bin/cue file to mpg using isobuster. Then, neither AutoGK or VDM-mpeg2 worked to convert that mpg file back to avi, since the mpg file is an mpeg1 and NOT an mpeg2. How do I convert an mpeg1 back to avi.

load the mpeg1 into virtualdub and re-encode it ..

you will of course lose quality if you use a lossy compression .. or a huge file size if a lossless (or no) compression ..

mpeg1 can be used in all NLE , why do you want to convert it ?

I originally wanted to re-encode the mpg to avi in order to improve video quality. But it's turning into quite the hassle... It doesn't matter anymore. Thanks for all your help though!

You can't improve what isn't there to begin with, and recompressing only takes away and degrades.

    Garbage in, garbage out.
