  1. Hey guys. I was hoping one of you super smart video gurus could help me solve a windows media player issue i have been haveing. On certain mpeg and avi files i will get this Green Blur Distortion rendering the video clip unrecognizeable. I've scoured the net and some solutions point to an incorrect codec being used and suggest to fix the problem i should use mplayer2.exe and mess with some of the settings there. basically use the older codecs to view it. The problem is that i have no mplayer2.exe. There is no Mplayer2 directory in my windows media player folder.

I am running XP SP2 media center. Useing Windows Media Player 10. I have DivX, Xvid, and i think OGG Vorbis Codecs installed and possible some others. If anymore information is needed on this to get proper help just post it and i will reply quite promptly as i have nothing better to do than wait here and look for a response.

*Edit-I tried searching the forums on VideoHelp.com and was unable to find any advice on the mplayer2 issue and no alternate solutions for correcting the blocky blurry really pissing me off annoying distortion.

Post a screeshot. Is it a file you captured? Sounds like Macrovision, a image will give better clues.

There's other players in the tools section.

Try installing and using mpc (media player classic). You could also use a prog such as gspot and check your video files. It will tell you how the video is encoded, what codecs are required to play, and whether those codecs are installed or not on your system.
