Of the two by FAR Workshop is the better one. Matter of fact that is one of the best Authoring tools available. I'm suprised it came with writer considering it's price. You sure that's not a older or trial version? It's $400 retail which is why I'm a little skeptical.

Anyhow the difference between the two is options, they are practically limitless in workshop for disc authoring. One thing to note is neither is really an editor, they are authoring software which means there main function is for taking your files and creating a usable DVD. They have limited editing functions such as being able to trim clips etc. So if that's all you need.... then they will work fine.

As far as reliability od discs I won't speculate on that but there are better discs that others. See the DVD media section to the left or the media forum.

I'm pretty sure either will do that (depends on what version of MF you have), if you go to reauthor you'll have less options with MF. Your stuck with the templates.

If you don't want to shell out the cash for Workshop and MF won't accept VOB's you can use DVD Decrypter to rip the VOB's to MPEG format which it will accept.

If you really want to get creative with your menus etc that would be the way to go. Like I said it has limited abilities for editing video but if you only need to trim them..... If given the choice of a single piece of software that would be the one I would choose.
