  1. been backing up a few dvd's so the kid's don't scratch the originals...anyway, I have had limited luck with backups. I have found most my players use DVD-R media, memorex mainly, anything else will not work.
I am now getting DVD Cannot Be Read by the home DVD players...on all 3 except the one portable player. I use DVD shrink and Nero mainly, other apps as needed. Could this just be bad media - outdated players, or bad burns? I have 2 second gen dvd players, a new disney mickey mouse player and an Initial portable.

they all play on the PC just fine.
    thanks

    Could be a player issue.

    Thanks.

Media is always the first suspect. You can check the compatibility of both your players and your burner to the left for different media. <<< DVD Writers and DVD Players, and you might get some suggestions for better media. And media quality sometimes changes, even within a unit of discs or brands.

Some players just don't like some media. I have a older Toshiba that won't play any burned discs, no matter what the brand. Most newer players are fairly tolerant. You could try burning with DVDDecrypter if you think Nero is the problem. It sometimes makes a slightly more compatible disc.

  4. thanks - I have looked at the lists, and media should be okay, although I cannot find the exact mfg code so go with brand only. I will try dvddecrypter - I have used it in the past with luck.
    thanks
