  1. i built my own computer and i am really happy with the speed and everything is wonderful and meets my needs....

now there is a problem with one item, MY VIDEO CARD.

i took my card out of my old PC that was about 6 years old.
the video card is a ATI rage fury pro/Xpert 2000 Pro.

now, it works fine and what not, but i just want to upgrade to a nice card. now i know the ati all in wonders are nice, but i already have a Pinnacle Studio AV/DV capture card. so i dont really need the tuners.

all i really need is sjust something to connect my moniter in. it price permits, i could go fancy, but really i dont want to go all out......something i could find on ebay and probally under $100.

please let me know what make and model would work for me....

side note: i dont play graphic intence games, unless minesweeper is one.... ....so i am not a heavy gamer, but i do lots of video editing...dont know if that will help....

    thanks ahead of time...

I'd go even cheaper and get whatever GeForceFX 5xxx it is that's selling for about $50 at NewEgg. I don't think that ATi is its equivalent, there's something else that fits that price/performance range.

Personally I have no respect for the AIW cards. They work for some, but the AIW I had a few years ago was awful for quality of input as well as it tended to be a resource hog. Not that I prefer nVidia VIVO solutions any more than the ATi offerings. If you want a tuner or capture card you should really keep it seperate from your display card.

I agree. I thought about AIW, but then when I did the research I found that they all had analog tuners and / or used the CPU instead of hardware.

This one is probably all you really need:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127181

    MSI FX5200-TD128LF Geforce FX5200 128MB 64-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail

    Model #: FX5200-TD128LF
    Item #: N82E16814127181

    $38.00

I just bought one. Haven't installed it yet though. I liked it because it had both regular VGA and DV outputs. So when my monitor goes I can get a new flat panel one without haveing to get a new vided card or adapter, etc. Also, this card is much better than my existing PCI Diamons Stealth S220 (vintage 1995 or 1996 card) which is really sufficient but I want to try AGP and can't get decent drivers for Windows 2000 or XP for my old card.
