Someone recommended using ffmpeg to convert a clip I have in .mp4 formet. I have tried many conversions using Quicktime Pro 7, Cleaner and I cannot get a file that has both sound and picture.

Using ffmpeg I have tried four time to convert the file. Each time the video is fine, but there is no audio track.

    The file contains:
    h264, 496x369, 25.00 fps video
    mpeg4aac, 48000 Hz, stereo audio

I have tried both the mpeg2 using the memcoder and the ffmpeg encoder and I tried Divx3 using memcoder and ffmpeg encoders.

I am new to this program and by no means an encoding genius. Any guidance would be greatly apprecaited.

All I want to wind up with is a .mov that will play inline ina browser for use on my website.

    Thanks very much,

    Henry

Why do you want to convert mp4 to mov?

Anyhow, have you tried splitting the audio and video in Quicktime Pro and checking to see if they both play separately, then Add Scaling them back together and saving the whole thing as a new mov?
Go off and rule the universe from beyond the grave. Or check into a psycho ward, whichever comes first, eh?

I have a mp4 file that plays fine locally, but if I upload it and try viewing in line thru a browser I get nothing.

    Quicktime Pro 7 installed.

    that's why.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

  6. You can use Toast 7... it will convert from one format to the other and export it...just like QT 7 Pro... but supports more formats like DiVx too.
