  1. There's an event (here) of which streaming Real Media is broadcast live all day long. I'd like to capture some of that.

    And to that end, I did my googling and installed HiDownload. However, the problem I'm having is that apparently HiDownload stores the stream into some odd format before it's completed, and now I have a file called: ratha-yatra-2005.rm.@@@1

    Is there a way to only capture a part of the stream and have that available as a regular file? Changing the extension doesn't do any good, the file doesn't work.

    you could try rm recorder.

  3. Never mind - MPlayer on command line just made my day.

    mplayer.exe -dumpstream rtsp://somehost.com/somedirectory/somefile.rm

    Then rename the stream.dump into stream.rm and there you have it.
