  1. I've been looking for a solution to this weird little problem but without much luck so I'll put this out to all of you.

Just ripped Menace II Society with DVD Decryter with no problem and when I went to reencode it with DVD Shrink, I received the following message

    Invalid Data in file c:\menace_II_society\video_ts\vts_01_1.vob

Is there a guide here that details how to deal with this problem? I haven't been able to get much info from the web but it seems it may have something to do with Sony copy protection.

Really I just want to watch O dog and Kane on the way to Spokane without risking my copy if the kids decide to play table hockey with my DVD. I've never encountered this problem before so it's pretty vexing to me.

  2. Never ran into that problem but maybe try ripping the dvd with this utility https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DVDFab_Decrypter then try DVDshrink or try DVDshrink in the re-author mode for the movie only.

  3. It is not new Sony protection, it's an older release, I backed it up long ago with no probs. Come to think of it, I may have done movie only, try re-author mode in shrink.

  4. Thanks for the info. I'll look into DVDFab Decrypter after dinner this evening. Cheers!

  5. I know that I am bringing up an old topic, but I came across my original of Menace II Society and had remembered posting here. This DVD does have an obvious problem with its structure. DVD Shrink will not open it, nor will Slysoft's CloneDVD. Luckily it is a single layer DVD-5. The only way I could back it up was with DVDDecrypter - iso read, iso write. The original and copy plays back fine in all of my players.
