I have VCDs from Europe and Far east which carry different language on left and right audio channel. When I play them with standard Windows media player, two languages come out of both channels. I have to use left and right balance to shut down one channel. This does not sound good when sound is only coming out of one speaker. I installed InterVideo WinDVD , but there is no L/R audio selection.
Does anyone know which software player has the feature to allow me to play only the channel I like.

I'm not currently at my computer but I recently installed a copy of PowerDVD 5 from CyberLink that came with a burner. I remember seeing a Karaoke menu item when I right clicked the 'display' window. I'll check what options, if any, there are when I get home shortly.

Well, I checked it out and there is a Karaoke menu option with a sub menu showing:
Vocal None
Vocal 1
Vocal 2
Vocal Both
Unfortunately they are all grayed out during DVD playback. Maybe it's active in the deluxe version or something?
Anyway, I couldn't play CD+Gs but it is more than likely my drive. Also, when playing a Karaoke VCD the options above didn't appear. -
Seems kinda odd that there are different audio tracks on the left and right channels. Are you sure it isn't a SVCD with 2 audio tracks?

Typically, Karaoke VCDs are mixed with 2 channels: one with the vocals and one with the music. This is to allow 'hardware' karaoke players to be switched or cycled between: Left Channel only, Right Channel only, Dual Mono (to allow the single channel of music to play in both the left and right speakers for true karaoke without demonstration vocals) and regular Stereo - demonstration vocals and music. I personally haven't seen any karaoke Super VCDs (doesn't mean they don't exist though). PowerDVD justs labels the 'modes' differently using the word 'vocal' alot.
