  1. is thier a easy way to remove the black bars from the top and bottom of a dvdr without reencoding
    yes i know you can zoom on your tv or dvd but my panasonic widescreen dont get rid of em still.
    and the dvd player just makes me lose on the sides
    so im wondering if theier is a better way to lose them
    if need be i will rencode,i prefer not to,but i think its the only way.
    any ideas on the best way to do it.
    the dvd is 16.9 ntsc.

    Sure it's not a 16:9 framed on a 4:3? When a your viewing a corectly made 16:9 the bars are created by the video player. Sounds to me like yours are part of the video.

    and the dvd player just makes me lose on the sides
    If you don't lose the sides your going to lose the aspect. In other words everyone is going to look like basketball players and basketballs will look oblong.

    Chances are, that is the way that the movie was created. There isn't anything that you can do to "fix" it without distorting the picture.
