I had just bought Pinnacle's Studio MovieBox Deluxe USB edtion. it had problems as the preview was moving left and right.
So i will refund the box.

Neither , both have extensive bad reports , and support is almost non-existent .
Considering your pc specs as listed , you might consider looking for a pci card that can do it all in one go from an analog source .
Avermedia has pci cards that do a brilliant job , cheap , but can be hard to get hold of them , well in au its a real problem .
The video is exceptional in capture's , and is even better when viewed on a tv , capture in avi , mpeg1 , mpeg2 and straight to dvd format ready to burn .
This is what you would be looking for .
As for media streaming , you have xp os according too the listed specs , so you could setup some of the defaults windows encoders to handle this .
This is the better idea , as I would assume most if not all pcs reviewing such media would be running some form of windows os .
The less junk you install on a pc , the faster it gose , opps , xp slamed the speed down .... -

Out of the hundreds of cards listed if you sort them by user rating the ADVC line occupies the top 3 slots. As for the customer support, I really have no idea. I'll assume most will tell you that because it just works, you won't find any posts here about issues with the canopus unless they are system related. No support required.
@AjnabiZ
I'm not familiar with the pinnacle product but I can tell you that the Canopus ADVC line produces great results and is probably by far the easiest method of converting Analog to digital.
The only "drawback" is that it only produces DV-AVI. Nothing wrong with that and is preferable if your going to be outputting to multiple formats.
One other thing to consider is just buying a new digital cam. For almost the same price as the ADVC 110 you can purchase a new cam to film your new lectures. If you get one with DV passthrough you can convert your old footage to digital with the cam if need be. Using pass thru is just about the same as using the Canopus. -
Another vote for the Canopus option here - I have used the ADVC50 for over 2 years now - superb captures, perfect audio sync.

I have been using the ADVC-100 for around (3) years with zero problems. It also does a great job!
Have never needed any support so I can not comment on their support!bits
