  1. I have a mpg movie that I want to split into two parts to burn as a VCD.
I set up the split time and checked the position and then clicked split and it looks like it wants to start and then stops and gives me the Finished dialog box but it did not give me the two split mpg movies.

I had no problems splitting an avi movie into two parts.

  2. Any errors in the process output?

  3. Thanks for the quick reply Major

I have just installed Panther 3.9 on one of my HD since I have been unable to use ffmpeg in Jaguar as the Apple Script updater will not recognize the drive as having OSX installed.

I finally decided to install Panther using Xpost Facto since I am using a unsupported Umax S900 clone. The install went fine as did the install of ffmpeg 0.0.9s. I was able to do a split of an avi movie with no problem .

I then decided that I wanted to split a movie I had that was an mpg into 2 parts to burn as a VCD. It did not even start the process. It just gave me the pop-up window "Finished" with nothing done.

  4. If you click the blue "i" button in the progress window does it show any more information?

  5. I think I should indicate that I am trying to use the split function in the Filters section.

As I said I don't even get a progress window when I click on the split button. I have never seen a progress window when using the split function in Filters to split a movie, just the spinning indicator to the left of the split button which continues until it finishes and the "Finished" window pops up

  6. Indeed, sorry. Could you please give any other hints about the mpg file (size, split point, etc)?

  7. I will try to give you what I have

    MPEG1 Muxed, 320 x 240
    Duration 02:09:12.21
    Size 1.25 GB

Split point 72 min. 24 sec.

I looked for a split point that was at the end of one scene.
I have always good results with that function even when I was using 9a in Jaguar. As a matter of fact just before I set up to do this movie I split up an avi movie into 3 chunks that I wanted to burn as 3 VCD's.

I even went to disk utility and ran repair permissions.

  8. Major

After checking my HD with Disk First Aid and finding some strange problems I decided to reformat the drive and install Panther again.

I have completed the install and doing the update to 10.3.9 now, then I have to re-install all of the third party applications that I had in that drive. When I have finished I will give this whole thing another try.

I will advise you on my results.

  9. OK, I didn't see any problems in the info above. Try also with various mpg files to see if some work and some not.
