It's more likely that some author who is a fan of SW suggested solidifying the universe in a book so other fans would appreciate his brilliance and the book company would make tons of cash.

It is a rarity in creating something that an artist/writer/creator follows his/her original plan.

And Real Military Tactics in a movie are nice, but most of the time aren't really given a second thought, it's more about the action that one sees on the screen. Essentially, someone wrote "So the Empire and the Rebel Fleets start a huge battle over Endor to Destroy the new Death Star" That's probably about the extent of Tactics that Lucas has. It's then shuffled down to the SFX and Storyboard guys to throw in all sorts of neat crap that will make everyone go "oooh!"
While that may all be true, does anyone know for sure? In either case, saying that the battle should have taken place over Kashyyk is rendered impossible due to it's location. Endor was a much smaller, out of the way location where neither the republic or the empire was known. Just saying the battle should have taken someplace else is complicated by matters of space and time. I was only pointing out those facts. Whether George Lucas had designed the entire universe or someone else did, saying it should have happened someplace in the middle of rebellion territory is laughable.

Actually, it was Han Solo and a lucky swing of an axe that did in Boba.

I was too blitz to watch SW: ROTS (Lucas' final insult is in the title :P ) sober, so did Vader actually fight any Jedi, or were they all mowed down in the back by Troopers?
It's been said that when you assume something, you've usually made an %@# out of yourself. Assumption are nice, but that leads to interpretation, which leads to conjecture, and then where are you? Probably in a place where only 2% of people agree with you. It's much better to know these things for sure. In my opinion, that one extremely short scene is one of the most powerful images of the entire Star Wars Saga. In a matter of 7 seconds, alot of emotions, politics, and social situations are concluded in an official manner by the author. Without that one sequence, we are left to wonder, where are the jedi? How did they die/disappear? From Episode 5, it would appear the emperer had a hand in their destruction, which he did indirectly, but it's made to appear he had more of a direct involvement. He was busy lying on his back when Vader did them in. George Lucas resolves all conjecture and speculation around that one "defining" event in the Star Wars Universe in Revenge of the Sith. After that event, the movie becomes extremely dark, not just because of the environments, but because of the entire feel. Only the last 3 minutes of the movie give rise to a "New Hope".

Actually, it was Boba Fett who made the stupid mistake to go out there in the first place. Did he think himself some sort of Jedi-Killer or something to go one on one with Luke? Tactics would say: stay at range, use a rocket to nuke the skiff, or a take him out with a sniper shot. Going out and getting aced by a lucky shot does not say much for the character.

I think that's what most people who argue against the NT are disappointed by. As it was said before, sometimes things are best left up to the imagination. I think some fans were waiting and expecting to take some Jedi heads and seeing it on screen. They wanted to see how bad and truly evil Vader was in helping to exterminate the Jedi.

In most cases, when a franchise like Star Wars, Star Trek, or The X-Files tries to string all their continuity together and reveal the inner workings of the plot or series, it makes it something less than wondering what the hell might be going on. It makes the person think, rather than having it spelled out to him/her.

The true test is how many 10-year-olds who love the NT now will still be fans of it in 20-30 years. Will there be huge numbers of people still dressing up like Anakin, or Darth Maul in that time? Will they still be quoting lines from NT as alot of us do from the OT? Are there any quotables in the NT (I haven't heard any, except "Meesa Gonna Die!") We shall see.

Did you watch the same movie as the rest of us? Luke was on a different ship. He was aiming at luke across the expanse when Han blindly hits him. He was at ranged tactics against a jedi. Not that it really matters, ranged or melee, remember luke's early training before even leaving tatooine involved blocking blaster shots from a training droid using the force and his lightsaber.

Yoda speaking to classroom of young Jedi in AotC:

"Lost a planet, Master Obi-Wan has. How embarrassing." - Funny

Anakin speaking about his final lightsaber being destroyed before designing his own:

"Not again. Obi-Wan is going to kill me." - I laughed

Padme talking to Anakin about Master Obi-Wan:

"Our mentors have an unusual way of seeing more of our faults than we would like. It's the only way we can grow. " - Too True

Anakin speaking to Padme about his anger:

"I am a Jedi. I must be better than this." - That look in his eye and her reaction foreshadows a later scene

And those are just quotes from my favorite of the NT Attack of the Clones. There are many more, especially the ramblings of C3PO or some of the interaction between Dooku and others.

By Quotables, I meant something that you could use in certain real life situations that other people or friends would get a laugh out of. Do, or do not, there is no try.

*Sigh* I find your lack of memory disturbing....

Yes, it's true that Luke was on a different skiff when Fett bit it, but Luke was originally on the skiff with Han, Chewie and Lando. Fett used his jet pack to fly, landing in front of Luke and then attempted to shoot him with his blaster, which Luke then cut in half. If that is your definition of ranged, you must have some very short arms.

And as far as his training, he still got shot in the hand by some lackey.

"Warned you, we tried. Listen, you did not. Now SCREWED, we all will be."

DVDguy4, please don't mistake me as a SW hater. Just because I can cut down the NT and poke fun at it, doesn't mean I don't like SW. If I didn't like the series, I wouldn't be writing this post now.

Lightsabers remind me of Christmas and Chanukah. The sound is always impressive too. "most impressive" I'm a StarWars Movie Fan, just because I'm a movie fan anyway. I've already got my DVD ordered, because I gotta complete the collection. I will only have 1 thing missing.......Clone Wars Volume II.

It's not a marathon unless you crack out 3 days with all of the movies. I MEAN ALL!

First we start off with the basics. Ep. 1,2,Clone Wars Volume I, Ep. 3.

Now we go on to Ep. 4, The Star Wars Holiday special, Ep.5 & 6.

The madness doesn't end there though, OH NO! We got to An Ewok Adventure: Caravan of courage, then Battle For Endor. And you can't go without the animated series Ewoks & Droids. When That's Done you have the optional 'MAKING-OF' & deleted scenes if you feel like going the extra mile.

You want to know what the worst part of the whole ordeal is?..........................I Own Them ALL! (except for Ep. 3 at the moment, & Clone Wars Vol 2)

It's Sheer Madness I tell you.

you'll be waiting a bit for that price, even in Łlbs. If there's anything new in the 6 movie box set, I'll probably be getting it too. i need a back-up set in case my boy get's into the discs and wrecks a bunch again. Had to buy the Jurrasic Park set a second time for that very reason. My boy is 3 now, but my wife wants to have more kids.

WHO'S GOING TO BE DRESSED UP AT THE STORE AT MIDNIGHT FOR THEIR COPY?

I'M NOT. My wife made me get the last Harry Potter book at midnight when it came out. I'm not that desperate for the DVD. I have an inside person at a Wal-Mart now, and he'll hold a copy for me.

I can't wait until I get my copy so I can watch the second time frame by frame so I can pick out every little detail of the film. After I do that, I watch it in each of it's recorded languagues. Then, and only then, I will watch the movie again with the commentary turned on. This will be followed by a 20 minute cry when I remember the plight of those less fortunate folks in hurricane ravaged areas who will not be able to enjoy this film. I mean, its one thing to have your house destroyed by severe weather, but to miss the release of such a spectacular film!

After my ROTS film fest, I eat all of the cookies that my mom served me while I sat in my parent's basement... Hmm... maybe I'll take off work to mark the occasion... Hmm? Maybe I'll recreate all the great battle scenes on the Xbox with Battlefront II.... Yip Yip Yippeeeee!!!!!! It's so great being a wholesome young man in the US. I am so blessed!!!

Almost everybody longs to be successful, but wow, people love to attack those that actually do become sucessful. Regardless of whether you like the films or not you can't argue that Lucas and the SW franchise hasn't been successful.

Like most, I find all the special edition releases annoying, but does that make Lucas evil? I don't think so. In fact its very clever and successful strategy. Let's face it, each person has the ability to vote - with their $$$. If a new Special Edition came out and no one bought it, then the chances for an Uber-Special Edition coming out would be small. But that's not what happened, many bought it, many bought other editions and many will continue to buy future releases. I, personally, would only buy 1 edition and that's it, but I have friends who buy them all. They don't think they are being ripped off. In fact they are excited and happy to have multiple versions. Its not like we are forced to buy them, so if you don't like them don't buy them. But there are plenty of people who do want and buy them.

I also don't think its really fair to even try to compare the first trilogy with the original trilogy. As has been said, most adults who hated the new series saw the original as kids, and we are all (hopefully) very different people now. There was such a great expectations for the new series that nothing could ever have lived up to it. Many say the LOR trilogy was spectacular, but there were those who thought it sucked as well because it veered away from the book in a few places.. You cant please all the poeple all the time.

Most of the great films usually aren't expected to be great blockbusters, they just kind of sneak out. Almost any movie that markets itself as a blockbuster before its even released usually never meets the hype.

Whether you thought the movie sucked or not is purely subjective and a personal opinion. And we have to remember that this is a movie, and nothing more..

I was thinking along the same lines. Star Wars Holiday Special Sucked and it's not been formally released. And That's something I really wish, out of the entire StarWars Saga, would be Either Redone or Masterfully Reworked. HELLO! A little dialog for the wookies would be nice if all that's going to happen is Wookie Caawing for about 15 minutes straight. The make-up & costume designers would have been shot by the gay fashion police had that schlop been created that way today.

The cartoon segment wasn't bad though. :/
