  1. With the latest version of InCD (4.3.14.1) you can use any of the following versions of UDF:

    1.50 (recommended by InCD)
    2.00
    2.01
    2.50
    2.60

Which of these versions is the fastest? I store files on DVD+RW all the time and would like to utilize the fastest UDF possible. Though InCD recommends v1.50 for compatibility, the latter versions (2.x & above) supposedly support video streaming. I would think this would mean better throughput for larger files.

  2. I thought UDF 1.02 was the most compatible with DVD Players, but it isn't listed.

It hasn't been supported by the last two versions of InCD (before that I don't know).

From what I understand, most home DVD players have already switched to the 1.50 format ort greater.

Newer models of dvd players will play UDF 1.05 fine. But there are some older generation of dvd players which require UDF 1.02

Nero still uses UDF 1.02 and is the most compatible. Unless you have one of those older players, it doesn't really matter.

  5. I find that most older players (circa 2000 & before) don't read burned DVD's at all, like my old Samsung.

    To quote cdfreaks.com:

UDF 1.50 defect management makes it the usual choice for CD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD-RW (except MRW, as they do have defect management at hardware level) .

I'm wondering if there are any noticeable performance & reliability benefits of the 2.xx versions.

  6. If you use UDF 1.02 and change the booktype to DVD-ROM,its the most compatible way and SHOULD play on the old skool DVD players.
Compatibility is better than speed IMO.

Not on my old Samsung player. It even indicates not to used burned media. Heck, it even has a hard time playing some commercial/pressed DVDs. It does have a nice picture though.
