Hi, I put together about 20 video clips that i captured and they are all around 18 minutes each. So I compile all the mpg files into tmpgenc dvd author, create a menu so I could go to any clip I want and I created the vob files. I burned it to dvd succesfully but about 5 out of the 20 clips won't play! I select them from the menu and its just blank. Can anyone tell me where do i start looking to fix this problem? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

how did you convert to mpg? did you capture directly to mpg?
what mpg settings?
does the dvd work with a software dvd player?
tried different dvd media? -
These mpgs were actually downloaded and they are 350x240 29.97 files. I created a menu and after I converted them to vob I tried it using media player and the problem happens there too. I also tried powerdvd and it does it there. It can't be bad dvd media if it also does it using software
Hope this made sense. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hey dinonet,
It could be a few things, but here's where I'd start:
- Check the original clips (assuming you still have them) to see if they play fine in any of the software players you've got installed. If those 5 orginal clips fail to play anywhere, it's possible you don't have the proper codec installed. Resolve that issue alone and you may be more than halfway home!
One thing I always do before prepping for a DVD authoring session is to verify my clips work before AND after authoring - it cuts down on coasters and bad DVD's.
Use your authoring program t output the VIDEO_TS folder and then play that via WinDVD, etc., and make sure navigation and all of the clips play, it will make life much easier.
Post back and let us know, ok?
Cheers!

Thanks! I'll try your suggestions. I do remember checking at least the first few seconds of each clip to check quality and stuff. The would just open up in windows media player so i assumed they were all working fine. I am re-authoring them in tmpgenc just to see if there's any difference. I really hope I can get to the bottom of this!
