Hi,
I've got a ripped dvd on my hdd.
I'd like to create a menu for that dvd and make chapters for the film.
The problem is, that most author tools that I know reencode the input, but my material is already in dvd format so encoding it again would mean a loss of qualtity.
The only tool I know, which supports vobs and doesnt reencode the vobs is tmpeg dvd author. but there you can only create very simple menus.
Can you recommend a tool to me?
Thanks in advance

The few that I've used give you the choice to encode or not but it is often hidden. Ulead DVD Workshop, for example, lets you choose the final output quality from a list of presets. It then uses settings defined in the preset that you chose to encode the video. However, you are able to manually edit and/or create more presets. As long a the preset matches your input video, no encoding will take place.

Another one to try is TMPGEnc DVD Author not only won't it encode your files it can not encode them as it has no encoding ability. The only ting it can do is take for example VCD audio and redo it for DVD audio (48Khz) and if you have the AC3 plug-in it can also convert MP2 or LPCm audio to AC3 2Ch.

Baldrick: You are right, Damn sun glare!
OTOH I've made some decent looking menus using a dance number from one of the shows on the disk as a motion background where thet're singing and dancing away. Put the buttons where they showed all the time.
Anyway, Sorry bout that.
Cheers
