  1. I have a video of an interview.
I need to chop up bits and stick them together.
I'm having all sorts of trouble doing this.

I've got several scenes that I want to piece together.
I want to have a transition in between scenes.

The problem is that the start and end of each scene does not have a pause or silence.

When I do a transiton, the transition works fine... but the problem is that the end of one video will play and the bigining of the other video will start playing instantly.

    1. What I want: the end of one scene to stop.
    2. The transition to happen.
    3. The next scene to only start playing once the transition has finished.

I've tried Premiere and Ulead. Both have the same capabilites for what I need. Both have the same problems: during the transition, the video and sound doesn't stop.

I've also tried playing around with overlays.
I'm not an expert or anything... but I still had similar problems and the end result was I couldn't do what I needed to do.

    Can anyone offer some advice?
Is there other software that I need to use?
Does any of what I said make sense!?

    Thanks.

This is something that I've done on occasion when I don't have enough "transition footage" to work with.
Grab a snapshot of the last frame of the first clip and insert it as an image into your time line after the first clip, then grab a snapshot of the first frame of the second clip and insert it after the other image and before the next clip. Then place your transition to occur between the images and set the image lengths to equal the transition length. It doesn't always work with all transitions, but can be OK for many of them.

  3. thanks for the reply.
    i thought of doing that.
    i had even tried it.
i was only using one image though, the end of the first scene.
it makes sense to use the two images u suggest.
    thanks.
