  1. I live in canada, have a PAL-tape and a PAL-vcr without an internal converter. so I got an external converter, but it is stupid and requires a 50hz compatible ntsc tv to display correctly. My tv doesnt have that i dont think. I wanna watch/capture it on the computer, but cant find software or option where i can select at how many hz i want the capture to be.. what do I do??

how do I select 50hz, or auto-sync, or whatever , so that the 50hz signal will be read at 50hz not 60hz like all software seem to be doing by default..

thanks alot to anybody who knows

To capture in pal you have to change the device setting to pal,i can do this on my capture card,in virtualvcr you would go to settings/video/device settings and choose pal_b.

  3. thanks, but it doesnt work. I can choose pal_m, pal_n, pal_b and all the other pals in all the other software, but none of the pals work. the image flickers constanly. only if i select pal_60 does it stay okay, except the image flicker heavily in 15-30 sec intervals.

maybe its because og my video capture card. ATI AiW 7500 which says it's ntsc (on the box) and it also supports pal_m, pal_n, but when I choose those it doesnt change anything.

maybe the problem is that my PAL-VCR, which has ntsc playback, outputs at PAL at 60hz (im guessing) . and my capture card cant recognize it at 60hz, although it may have been able to do so under pal_m, pal_n if it were at 50hz like its supposed to be.

Nomally a standard PAL VCR will playback a PAL tape just as PAL/50hz. (ofcourse)
If it has NTSC playback it will put out a PAL60 signal when playing a NTSC tape, which is 60hz.
