    how long does it generally take to burn a dvd movie? it takes around 5 hrs for me- is that normal (using nero)

    just burn should take 6-60 minutes.
    but are you also converting?
    what is your video source? avi
    are you using nerovision express?

    Depends on what speed you burn at.

    8X will take 7-8 minutes
    4X will take 15 minutes
    2X will take 30 minutes and so on.

    Hi, yes I just import the avi file , create a menu etc and burn using nero express.

  5. 5 hours doesn't sound unusual for an AVI->MPEG2 convert/burn on a P3-500 -- depending on the length and frame size of the file being converted. If you're talking about a 30 second clip 5 hours is long. If your're talking about an hour long video it's probably about right.

    I was thinking of upgrading to a pentium 4, 3Ghz, Is that going to make a difference?

    Yes. A processor upgrade will make a huge difference in encoding speeds. Consider also upgrading your memory too.
