I have been using TMPEnc and avysinth script to encode and so far there was no problem.
But now i am tring to encode another avi file and withot the avysinth i can do it, but with the avysinth the TMPGEnc gives the following

    AviSorce: Could not decompress
    (C:/Dvd/Filmes/film.avs, line1)

But i need the avysinth to create a border (otherwise the picture on my TV is missing a peace). The strange is that i did not change the configuration to the avysinth from the avi file i could encode, and that without the avysinth the TMPGEnc does not complain
DO anyone nows what is happening? What can i do to fix that?

Can you at least post the contents of the AVISynth script you're using ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Well AVISynth requires a VfW decoder so it doesn't matter if the avi plays in wmp. Perhaps you have TMPGEnc's dshow priority increased so that it to is using dshow for input.

Can you open the avi in VDub?

when i tried to play the avs in windows mwdia player i got the sam answer
    My avysinth is basic this:

    AVISource("film.avi")
    LanczosResize(648,432,0,0.5)
    AddBorders(36,24,36,24)

but i used some variatins already, like:

    AVISource("film.avi")
    LanczosResize(648,432,0,0.5)
    AddBorders(36,24,36,24)
    ConvertToYuY2()

    or

    AVISource("film.avi")
    LanczosResize(648,432,0,0.5)
    AddBorders(36,24,36,24)
    ConvertToRGB24()

becouse i didnīt (still donīt) know what the problem is about.

Try using DirectShowSource instead of AVISource.

AVISource is preferable for a couple of reasons, so DirectShowSource should only be a last resort.

Install whatever codec you are missing and the files should open fine via VfW.

When you opened the file in VDub, it would have told you the FourCC. This is the codec that you need.

    @ Rodurigo

If you don't already have it, you can D/L gspot, and then run
your avi through to see what codec it displays to you. This
would be the codec you are missing, and that you need to install.
    .
(don't worry about gspot scaring you with all its features. You
dont' need to worry about all them for your situation. You
just want to see the codec window only, to identify the codec)

Oh, forgot.. you should be able to open any AVI file inside vdub,
(ignore the error message it gives you) and then go to the:
File\Information.. and see what codec is displayed. I like to
use vdobMOD because it seems more info'ishy for one's needs, (when
in the vdub mode of things)

    On the other hand..

Weather or not you can open your avi file is another story. But,
your AVI file could be corrupt at the beginning too. And, when
you open it with certain successful steps, the tool at hand might
be a little forgiving those errors, and proceeding as usual.
    Just a thought

Ok, so you do have a VfW decoder installed. Just that there is either a problem with it or the file itself.
