You need a proxy server. You can Google for 'anonymous proxy servers'. Another alternative is a dedicated proxy server. Take a look at 'Secure-Tunnel' for one. Just do a search for 'anonymous web surfing' and you will get some more ideas.

BTW, nothing is 100% anonymous. You want to spend some time researching or don't go to places or DL things you shouldn't.

Some things to look at, 'Protowall', 'Blocklist Manager'.

VenGeanCe, that's not a program, just a suggestion for a web search. I'm saying that you need to do some searches to find what you need. If you do a search for 'anonymous proxies' you will find quite a few. But you are just a guest there, if they let you use it. The idea is to go through those proxies to arrive at the place you want. Your address will be theirs, if they let you in. You are not anonymous if they give out their server logs, but some won't.

This is way too much to cover on this forum, but start searching and learning. A proxy is a way to redirect your browsing though other sites. If those sites stay anonymous, then you are also.

A secure tunnel server is another way. They output on one address, no matter who accesses them. They use secure encryption to and from their site. Your ISP cannot read this. If they don't keep logs, then you are one of hundreds or thousands, all with the same address.

EDIT: BTW, about the last thing you would want out if you wanted to stay anonymous is your MAC address. That is generally a unique identifier for your computer or cable modem or other hardware.

Well, with the MPAA and RIAA targeting individual users whom download/upload copyrighted material, hence the need for an anonymous proxy server

If your ISP allows cgi scripts to run on their webserver, and they've given you some webspace with your account, I would suggest CGIProxy. With that, it'll look like you're surfing from their webserver and not your actual IP - running a proxy on your own system won't hide your own IP address.

It works very well for me!

VenGeanCe, sorry, I misread your post. That program will work, but there are lots of freeware programs that do similar. You might take a look at this site, http://wiki.ehow.com/Surf-the-Web-Anonymously-With-Proxies for how simple a proxy setup is.

That program probably just automates it a little. I have never used a program, just typed in the proxy and go from there. There are plenty of anonymous proxies out there, but be careful, there are a lot of bad ones also. Do lots of research before you commit your data transfers to some unknown persons.

You can use the following to see if your IP address shows up :

  10. You wouldn't want to feed your passwords, bank details etc. through an unknown proxy now, would you?

  12. That won't make your browsing anonymous inasmuch as it doesn't mask your IP address.

  14. By using a proxy server.

The program called Complete Anonymous Web Surfing you mentioned, from PC Mesh, does this automatically for you.

However you are connecting through an unknown third party, and all data, including all of your passwords, will be at their disposal. That is the downside of using an anonymous (and essentially unknown to you) proxy.
