  1. I would like to ask what type of luck people are have burning VCD/SVCD's with the 99 min CDR's? What type of software / hardware you use and mostly, what DVD players are reading these disks? I have the new Pioneer DV-444 and whould really like to hear back from those who own Pioneers and their 99 min CDR burns. But any feed back would help.

  2. Sorry, don't have a pioneer. But my apex-1500 has no problem with the discs. The only weird thing is when the apex scans the CD, it doubles the minutes used. 43mins displays 86mins. But when played or ff/rr, the mins played is correct, 43min. Must be an apex bug.

  3. The older Pioneer models (like 525 and 434) would not play reliably beyond the 90-minute mark on a VCD. Playback would fail somewhere in the 89th minute of the video.

I'd bet that the DV-444 resolves this, since it has totally new firmware, but the only way to be sure is to try it!

  6. Yep, as Pinoy mentioned. They are already sometime on the market. But not much burner's are capable of burning that format and it's a question of trial and error if your standaloneplayer is able to play it.

Also some searching on this forum will give more info.
According to this info their could have been a 120 min CDR.

But Sony/Phillips were probabely scared for the new 1,3 DD format so http://www.disc4you.de/news/oktober2001/101101_04.html

    Hope this helps

  8. Sefy sorry for not mentioning your great CD ReWriter Comparison List but I couldn't find it quickly
Perhaps it could be linked on "The Left Side" button comparisons or something. Much easier for referring to and IMHO it deserves that place.

    thanks
and please don't get "itchy" about templates and processors it's a waste of energy

  10. I have been using them for a few months with no problems. I use Compusa 99 minute ones that sell for $7.99 for a pack of 16 disks. I have a Lite-on 16x (busslink) and an LG 8x. They burn to 99 minutes with these two burners. They also play fine on my Apex 703 and 660.

The 703 is a three tray model than will automatically advance to the next disk. The advantage is that I can do a 3 gig SVCD capture split it in thirds and let the player do the work. A 3 gig SVCD capture offers excellent quality for movie captures.

  11. Hey all,

I'm using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 and have been having trouble using the 99 min cd's I have. Roxio keeps telling me that there isn't enough room on the cd I'm using (My mpg is about 725MB and the cd-r's are like 850mb)

Any idea how I can get around this problem?

    Thanx

  12. Nero will burn the 99 Min CD's in the overburn mode, I can play back with no problems on the SamSung M301 or the Panasonic DVD-LV55 portable players. I use the CompUSA 99 Min CD-R's, they sell in 16 per pack

It might be a matter of media, not just player. Keep lowering the maximum minutes to be burned and see what the max the media and writer will accept. I have an HP9900j, and I've overburned before.

  17. Hi all!
I have a Pioneer DV-444 and have just ordered some 99min CDs.
My burner's a Yamaha 8424e which, according to most sites, can only burn to around 88mins before errors.

However, will let you know how I get on.

    Sue xxx.
