I have a Plexwriter 716A. I have made many DVD backups and created many DVDs in the past.

Recently, when I went to burn an ISO file with DVD Decrypter, I have come across an unusual problem. It starts fine with writing the leadin for the DVD, but then just sits there writing the leadin forever. The light on the drive blinks between amber and green at a steady pace (something it hasn't done before) and never gets to writing the image.

I have made three coasters so far and am becoming frustrated with it.

Any suggestions as to what it could be? I have not changed any settings on the drive or the software.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Assuming the same media also, maybe dirt on the laser lens? Just a guess, though. You might try some canned air and blow around the lens and see if that helps, if so try a cleaner disk if you don't want to disassemble to clean.

Ill give that a try. Just seems wierd. I did a test run, and it came out fine. During the "lifetime" leadin that it writes, I go to cancel the write, and it takes it about five minutes to "synchronise" the cache... grr... going to get some canned air.
