Will be posting scans of gold-topped Maxell DVD -R 8x, burned at 16x on my NEC3540. Got these at office depot for $17.98 a 50 tub.

Nasty jump at the end, but that's still very very low, right?

  6. That's a good Maxell burn for 100% overspeed.....

I've never had any luck at overspeeding Maxell.....4x or 8x media.

I wasn't too impressed with the MCC burn you posted, Fandim. But this
Maxell burn may show some potential with the 3540. Maybe after some
firmware updates, this burner will shine.

I'm going to wait and see how well this drive matures.

Hawseman, I've never had much luck with the MCC discs from supermediastore, honestly. I had the same problem with them, and my NEC 3500, as well as with my Pioneer 107, AND my NEC 2500.

Although, the pioneer 109 is writing them nicely. Maybe my computer is just cursed vs MCC discs, lol. But both the 01, and 02rg20 discs have failed horribly for me every time.

Notice, the PI spikes towards the end still shows up in the kprobe, indicating that the tests are accurate, just with varying numbers. What's interesting, is that more PI's show up on the CDSpeed w/ the NEC, whereas more PIF's show up on the liteon with Kprobe. Heh.

I've had very good results with MCC02RG20's on my 3500. They were the printables (#94854). Those must be low grade.

Kprobe looks a little more "honest", IMHO.
