HOW DO I MAKE SVCD TO STAY SYNCED?????

I think I have tried everything


I use bbMPEG to mux audio and video, because I have heard that this program can solve theese things....

I have tried changing the startup delays up to 500ms no luck


On my computer they are synced, but not on my NINTAUS standalone DVD player.

on the www.vcdhelp DVD player compatibility list under "Nintaus N9901" some people have found a way to make SVCD synced. But is that just a lie???...

My Nintaus always shows about 39:40 min left even if there is up to 80 min on a CD. On a SVCD with 60 min it plays it synced untill about 30 min in the movie then it gets screwed ...

If I make SVCD's with only 40 min I have no problems.

But I would like to have a movie on 2 CD's, and not many movies are 80 min long..


PLEASE HELP ME, I have been everywhere, no one have been able to give me an answer. NOT EVEN Nintaus support service ..

I have the same Nintaus...

I've made synced SVCDs, without BBMPEG actually, I just used TMPEG 12J... And it worked nice right away...

Otherwise you can switch the audio using the "Audio" button... Switch to 2 and then back to 1... that solves the problems for me...

Did you change all startup delays..? Did you have SVCD selected..?

Nintaus support is really bad, I've got one answer from them and it was the wrong one!!!

Yes i have selected the SVCD option, and I changed all the Startup delays.

The reason I have to use bbMPEG is because I use DVD2SVCD, and this program uses bbMPEG to mux files.


Are you saying that you can make synced SVCD over 40 min???.... Because then I realy have to know how ...

And can you do this with both Constant and variable Bitrate???

And what program do you use to burn the MPG's

I made DivX -> SVCD and I didn't hear any de-syncing...
You should try DVDx, what I've heard... This should create correct SVCD files for you...

I used Nero to burn the files... But I think that VCDEasy or TSCV are better...

Do you always use CBR 2376 or what?
And do you only make 40 min on 1 CD?

I almost never use CBR, I use VBR most of the time...

I usually shove as much video as I can on about 2 cds, never under 1600 though... =)

The length on the cd depends on the length of the movie I encode, I prefer 2 CDs...

A thing I can write to you is: Get a CDRW and test, test and test some more when you have the time, different encoders can help too perhaps, Panasonic is going to release a MPEG2 encoder (If I remember it correctly)...

I'll start by using DVDx, then I'll post my results .

I'd just had to make sure that the Nintaus could handle more than 40 min on a CD, before I started my testing.

The reason why I keep typing 40 min is as mentioned above that nomatter what is on a CD my Nintaus never shows more than 40 min left...


But If you say the Nintaus can do it, then I am going to test as never before ...

About the time, my Nintaus always shows the incorrect time as well... I think that it's some form of bug in their firmware that calculates the length based on the size of the film, it's the same problem on XVCD, wrong time...

OK, now I have done some more testing. Now I have also tried with DVDx. Same crappy resaults...

Please share the secret of how to make SVCD sync on the Nintaus and many other standalone DVD-players!!!..


I think the secret must lie in the muxing of the video and audio file. I do not think it has anything to do with the Encoder!!...


Some people here has written in the DVD player "Compatibility list" section, that they have made sync SVCD's on a Nintaus. I am begining
to think that a SVCD with more than 40 min is just not possible on a Nintaus.

If any of you have a SVCD that stays sync on a Nintaus, Denver Amitech and a lot of ather players., I would very much like to see it somehow. But it must be one CD with more than 40 min of video.


Please, someone out there must have the solution!....

... having read all the above, I seriously think there's something wrong with your player - either hardware or (most probably) firmware.

Can you upgrade the firmware at all?

If not I suggest you return the player and get another!!

The only way to upgrade this DVD player is to replace a chip. And yes you are right I should get another player, but how will I know if that player can play SVCD?..

When the Nintaus player should be able to playback SVCD...

And it is not all that easy to check a player befor a buy, because the movie first gets out of sync after about 30 min, on many DVD players!..

I've done about 80 movies with DVD2SVCD and have never had one be out of sync. I've been using APEX players. I think its your players problem.

If you search (fast forward) your SVCD past the first 30 minutes and then hit play, does it stay in sync or go out of sync immediately? If its out of sync as soon as you release the ff button, then this will be an easy (and quick) way of testing new players in the shops before purchase.

Thats the problem, if I fast forward 30 min then it is sync again for about 30 min.... So there is no way of testing it quickly!..

But one can say that the problem is not that big, because I can get it sync with just a click on a button. The one thing I just need to know is: Will it be possible to purchase a DVD-player that can Play SVD easily, and is SVD a standard that is here to stay.

I am beginning to wonder, should i Star with VCD, witch almost any DVD-player can do, or should I make SVCD, and live with having to click a button to get the movie sync?.

Now I have found the solution, sort of

If you try to buy a SVCD on the internet, you will se that all movies lie on 3 CD's Why??...

This is the answer:

My player always shows 40 min left on a 80 min SVCD and 37 min left on a 74 min CD.

This will say that it is not a SVCD standard if you put more than 40 min on one CD.

The standard goes!:

This is if you use a 80 min CD:

With audio bitrate on 384 the video will be 2336
With audio bitrate on 224 the video will be 2496
With audio bitrate on 128 the video will be 2592

You will with a bitrate calculator see that if the bitrate is not as above the CD will contain more than 40 min

Try using the http://www.vcdhelp.com calculator, then you will see what i meen.

So all you people out there making SVCD's with more than 40 min, remember that you'll break the standard and are making XSVCD. Just so you know
